Meine musikalische Vorliebe gilt sowohl Alter als auch Neuer Musik und ich hatte schon lange das Bestreben, beide Genres in einem Konzert zu kombinieren. Zusätzlich dazu war der Anspruch ausschließlich Barockinstrumente zu verwenden, da die Kombination von alten Instrumenten und Neuer Musik noch aussergewöhnlich und wenig erforscht ist und dementsprechend eine Herausforderung darstellt.
Im Rahmen des von Martin Stortz organisierten Hölderlin-Kiez Projektes “en courant” ergab sich die passende Gelegenheit. Bei der Recherche nach einem passenden Ort lernte ich Ingrid Fritz und ihren Laden “Weinhandlung am Hölderlinplatz” kennen und es entstand die Idee ein Format zu finden, bei dem die Themen Wein und Musik inhaltlich gleichberechtigt kombiniert werden.
Der Name “Weinklang” beinhaltet alle drei wichtigen Punkte dieser Musik-/Weinprobe: erstens geht es natürlich um Wein, zweitens um Klang und drittens um die Frage wie diese beiden Aspekte harmonisch miteinander wirken können, also den Einklang. Frau Fritz stellte uns dabei Wein zur Verfügung und wir suchten anhand unterschiedlicher Parameter – Herkunft, Temperament, Stimmung etc – passende Stücke. Zusätzlich gingen wir auch noch den umgekehrten Weg und suchten Werke zu denen Frau Fritz passenden Wein suchte.
“Wir” sind Isabelle Farr & Miriam Risch-Graulich (Barockvioline), Evelyn Laib (Cembalo), Joseph Michaels und Sophie Pope (Komponisten) und ich, Céline Papion (Barockcello). “Wir” hatten genüssliche Proben miteinander und hoffen das Ergebnis mundet auch dem Zuhörer bzw. dem Schmecker.
Zu hören/schmecken sind Alte und Neue Musik Werken von Andrea Falconieri (ca.1585-1656), Tarquinio Merula (1595-1665), François Couperin (1668-1733), Joseph Michaels (*1977), Sophie Pope (*1988) auf Weine aus Frankreich, Italien und Portugal.

My musical preferences lie in both Old and New Music. For a long time I have had the desire to combine both genres in a concert with the additional requirement that only Baroque Instruments could be used. The combination of old instruments and New Music represents a challenge that is highly unusual and only seldom explored.
An opportunity arose with the project “en courant,” which was organized by Martin Stortz. While searching for an appropriate venue, I got to know Ingrid Fritz and her store “Weinhandlung am Hölderlinplatz.” The idea emerged to find a format in which the subjects of wine and music will be combined equally in terms of the content.
The name “Weinklang” contains all three important points of this music and wine sampling: first, it is about wine; second, it is about sound; and third, it is about achieving a harmony between these two aspects, or the “Einklang” (unison). Ingrid Fritz provided us with wine and we searched for music that would match with the help of various parameters – origin, temperament, atmosphere, etc. In addition, we tried the opposite approach and chose music for which Ms. Fritz had to find an appropriate wine.
“We” are Isabelle Farr and Miriam Risch-Graulich (Baroque violin), Evelyn Laib (harpsichord), Joseph Michaels and Sophie Pope (composers), and myself, Céline Papion (Baroque cello). “We” had enjoyable rehearsals and sampling with each other and hope that the result will be to the tastes of the audience.
